From Scott at Base Camp:
Today is the day. Last night's 6:00 p.m. radio call had Tom, Dan, Brian, Jerome, Mike, Kan Cha, and Kusang all in their tents at Camp 3, cooking dinner, melting water, and having hot drinks. Plan was to leave for the summit this morning sometime around 1:00 a.m. (The Australians were planning to leave at 3:00 a.m.).
Base Camp anxiously awaits news of their progress today. Radio communication from Base Camp to the summit plateau is not good. Our radios depend to a certain degree on line-of-sight. They are now on the backside of a ridge from us. As we do make contact with the climbers we will report their progress. Stay tuned . . .
Weather today is absolutely beautiful! Skies were clear and calm last night. This morning woke to coolness, stillness, and no clouds. If the weather holds, all will have a truly fantastic summit experience. Visibility is great as well. All factors are in their favor. Let's wish Tom, Dan, Brian, Jerome, Mike, Kan Cha, Kusang, and the Australians all the best for today!!!
